SATNAC 2014 explores broadband and the human connection

As technology continues to change the world around us, this year’s Southern Africa Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) will explore the possibilities of ubiquitous broadband as an enabler to transform lives.
“As technologists we have front row seats to the digital revolution. The consumption of broadband has reached epic proportions and this appetite continues to grow. Ubiquitous broadband is necessary in ensuring that South Africa is not left wanting as the world journeys toward ‘connected everything’,” says Mr Alphonzo Samuels, Telkom’s Chief Technology Officer and Conference chairman.
“This year SATNAC will explore the possibilities of ubiquitous broadband and its ability to transform lives for the better,” he adds.
Hosted by Telkom, the three day conference will run from 31 August to 3 September 2014, and will take place at The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in Port Elizabeth.
SATNAC is popularly known for its ability to attract first rate local and international speakers. Delegates to this year’s conference can look forward to keynote speaker, Mr Siyabulela Xuza – a young South African rocket scientist and futurist with a passion for developing the potential of Africa.
The conference will see keynote addresses from captains of industry including Mr Sipho Maseko, Group CEO of Telkom, Mr Philippe Keryer, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Alcatel – Lucent and Mr Walid Wakim, Principal Engineer at Cisco.
The conference starts with a Welcome Function on Sunday evening. The traditional icebreaker golf day will begin at 09:00 on Sunday at the Humewood Golf Club.
