Telkom Internet welcomes high speed broadband pilot

Telkom Internet is inviting qualifying Telkom Internet customers in designated areas to participate in the Telkom high speed broadband pilot programme at no additional charge.

Broadband speeds of up to 40 Mbps will be tested in the pilot where Telkom has deployed new generation access network kits in five areas of three provinces in South Africa: Benmore Gardens, Fourways and Waterkloof in Gauteng; Durban North in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Durbanville in the Western Cape.

Telkom Internet customers in these areas on an up to 4/10 Mbps broadband service may qualify to participate in the pilot programme at no additional charge, subject to certain technical limitations that may apply in individual instances. Qualifying customers must volunteer and sign an agreement to participate in the trial.

These customers will be supplied with a free VDSL router in order to test the broadband speeds. This VDSL router will not be required to be returned upon the completion of the technical trial.

Telkom Internet wishes to highlight that all participating customers will revert to their original broadband speeds and services upon completion of the technical trial. The trial will terminate at the end of January 2013.

Telkom Internet values the support of its customers in the identified areas and hopes that the lessons learnt from this trial will contribute towards achieving the intent as stipulated by Telkom's Network and Wholesale division.
