Telkom appoints media agency, MediaCom

Telkom today announced the appointment of MediaCom as its new Media Strategy, Buying and Planning agency. Effective immediately, MediaCom will render services to Telkom for a period of three years.

The announcement follows a rigorous procurement process which began in November 2011 resulting in today’s announcement of MediaCom as the successful bidder.

"The appointment of MediaCom is in line with our medium to long term strategy to achieve the right levels of awareness, impact and strategic coherence in our media investment as we pursue our business objectives," said Mr Manelisa Mavuso, Telkom's Managing Director for the Consumer division.

"This also sees us consolidate all our media strategy planning and buying with one agency across all our customer-facing units including 8•ta," he added.

The ultimate purpose of the media agency is to ensure that through media and general presence the messages from Telkom reach the desired target market effectively and efficiently to ensure that the underlying business and positioning communication objectives are met.

In executing this responsibility, MediaCom will work with our through-the-line advertising agencies to ensure optimal alignment of all communication activities.

  • Data Centre Operations includes e-commerce, application service provider, hosting, data storage, e-mail and security services;
  • W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), a 3G next generation network, including fixed voice services, data services and nomadic voice services;
  • mobile communication services, including voice services, data services and handset sales through our mobile navbar-brand called Telkom Mobile;
  •  information and communication services including cloud services, infrastructure services, workspace services, global service integration management and hardware and network equipment sales locally, in seven African countries, the UK and Dubai through Business Connexion Group; and
  • other services including directory services, through Trudon (Pty) Ltd, wireless data services, through Swiftnet (Pty) Ltd.
