SATNAC 2011 Attracts Captains of Industry

The Southern Africa Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference can again boast a top level agenda having attracted speakers including the likes of Obed Bapela, Deputy Minister of Communications.

Hosted by Telkom the three day conference will see captains of industry deliver a number of keynote presentations around the conference theme: Social Communications: challenging the limits of technology and innovation.

Speaking to the conference theme, Global Chief Technology Officer for Nokia Siemens Network, Mr Hossein Moiin will delve into the power of social communications and how this communication phenomenon has transformed the way people live, work and play.

Importantly, Mr Moiin will highlight the implications of social communications on telcos including growing data revenues and the ever growing demand for innovations in fixed and mobile networks.

Another highlight of the conference includes a panel debate on how social communications can be harnessed as a means to uplift the marginalised and vulnerable pockets of society. Participating in this panel discussion will be Telkom's Group CEO Ms Nombulelo Moholi; Chief Executive Officer of Vox Telecom, Mr Douglas Reed and Executive Chairman of Dimension Data, Mr Andile Ngcaba.

Day two of the conference also includes an action packed agenda with a topical panel discussion around universal broadband access as an enabler for social media. Giving their thoughts on the topic will be Head of Regulatory Affairs at Cell C, Mr Mothibi Ramusi; Telkom's Group Executive for Regulator Affairs, Dr Andrew Barendse and Chief Corporate Services Officer at Neotel, Dr Tracy Cohen.

The wealth of information to be presented at this year's SATNAC has already attracted approximately 400 delegates with very few seats available for last minute registrations.

SATNAC 2011 will be held in East London from 4 to 7 September at the East London International Convention Centre. All registrations have to be completed online (www.satnac.org.za). Information on hotel accommodation can also be found on the website.

The conference starts with a Welcome Function on Sunday evening. The traditional icebreaker golf day will begin at 09:30 on Sunday at the East London Golf Club.

Summit TV, available on DSTV Channel 412, will broadcast the plenary sessions live and will also broadcast a highlights package in the week after the conference.
