Appointment of new managing director for TELKOM SA
Reuben September, Chief Executive Officer of the Telkom Group, today announced the appointment of Ms Nombulelo "Pinky" Moholi (49) as the new Managing Director of the Telkom SA business unit.
Moholi is an experienced telecoms executive who, after a formative career as an engineer at GEC and Siemens, joined Telkom in 1994. She spent eleven years at Telkom during which she was promoted to several senior positions, including Group Executive: Regulatory Affairs, Managing Executive: International and Wholesale Business, culminating in her last role as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer and a member of the Telkom Executive Committee (Exco).
Moholi left Telkom in 2005 to join the Nedbank Group, where she has served as the Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer, and a member of their Executive Committee for just over three years.
After obtaining her Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town in 1984, Moholi completed Executive Management Programmes at Stanford and Harvard Universities. She has also represented Telkom on the Board of Governors of Intelsat and the International Telecommunications Union and has served as a non-executive director on a number of private and publicly listed companies.
"I am delighted that Pinky has decided to rejoin Telkom, a place she knows well and where she made her mark as a key member of the executive team. I am confident that she will put her undoubted leadership skills to good effect in running the biggest division in our Group," September said.
He added: "Telkom is refocussing to maintain its leadership position in South Africa while building a strong footprint on the continent. A heightened customer focus is core to our strategy going forward while growth in the area of mobile capability is another key focal area.

Pinky certainly brings this as she has more than 20 years of ICT experience, with added exposure to the financial services sector at a strategic level." Moholi's appointment occurs at a critically important time for Telkom, following a major organisational restructure, and in the midst of an increasingly complex and competitive convergence space for the Company.
Under the new structure, the Telkom Group comprises of three business units: the Telkom SA business unit, Telkom International and Telkom Data Centre Operations.
Moholi will lead the Telkom SA business unit which comprises of wholesale and network, the consumer and enterprise divisions. "I look forward to Pinky joining our new executive team where she will play a vital role in focussing our efforts to make us more customer-centric and cost efficient as we defend our revenue streams. I have great pleasure in welcoming Pinky back to Telkom," added September.
Moholi, who will join Telkom in early May 2009, stated: "I am extremely pleased to be rejoining Telkom at a time when the Group, and the ICT sector at large, faces several challenges and opportunities.
