Telkom FutureMakers was launched in 2015 as the Enterprise and Supplier development unit of Telkom. To date, the programs have supported just over 2500 small, medium, and micro-sized enterprises through incubation, investment, connectivity, and business development support services.

Telkom has a committed capital of R250 million which is managed by IDF Capital on Telkom’s behalf to invest in innovative technology businesses at seed capital stage to growth stage. Investments are made by way of equity, quasi-equity, and debt.

About the programme:

The Township Innovation Incubator is an 18 month virtual technology business programme powered by Telkom enabling township based - technology social entrepreneurs to access technology development support, financial and non-financial business support services to turn their ideas into viable and scalable solutions addressing social challenges in their communities and the broader market.

Overview

We are looking for 15 budding social entrepreneurs in Soweto with innovative tech ideas to solve a social challenge in their community:

Qualifying Criteria:
  • Idea/Concept leveraging technology to solve a social challenge.
  • Founders have to based and intend to operate their businesses in Soweto
  • Have a technology-driven idea/concept that solves a social challenge
  • 51%+ Black-owned South African entity
  • The Entrepreneur must possess a high caliber of an entrepreneurial mindset (e.g. Risk Taker, Problem Solver, Curiosity, Leadership, Strategic Thinking, Innovator)
