6. Why Wireless services?
Three years ago, Telkom announced a multi-billion rand investment in NGN-based technologies with the intention of enhanced customer services and products. It isn’t about a single network but using various NGN technologies, such as W-CDMA, to provide customer-focused services.
W-CDMA is a tried-and-tested technology and Telkom has appointed a global specialist, Huawei, as a partner. The vendor is the market leader with around 87 commercial W-CDMA networks globally. Huawei is providing a turnkey network – deployment, maintenance and operation – enabling Telkom to offer these services.
As Telkom gives customers the opportunity of touching tomorrow with cost-effective technologically advanced services, it also looks at how to satisfy customer demand. This is Telkom on the move – here, there and everywhere.
