The Palmtalk Flip is a feature packed palm sized flip face cordless telephone that incorporates many features of a cellular telephone.

Features

Display

The PalmTalk Flip handset has a large display which gives information on battery condition, signal strength, time and date, dialed or incoming number information(if Telkom's IdentiCall service is activated). There is also a display on the base station which normally indicates the time and the income call number(if Telkom's IdentiCall service is activated).

Phonebook

The PalmTalk Flip has a 250 name and number phonebook in which regularly called and important numbers can be stored. Each number can be allocated one of fifteen ring tones to identify the number.

Note: this feature will only work if you have an IdentiCall subscription with Telkom activated

Call Timer

The duration of a call is displayed in minutes and seconds on the handset display during a call

SIM card Reader

The telephone has a SIM card reader with which you can copy numbers from a Cellular Telephone SIM card to the memory of the PalmTalk flip.

Note: that it is read only and cannot be used to transfer numbers to the SIM card

Date and Time

The telephone displays both Date and Time. This can be set using the telephone handset. If Telkom's IdentiCall service is activated one the line then the time and date is correctly reset with each incoming call

Hands Free operation

The PalmTalk Flip can be used as a portable speaker phone. When in operation the appropriate icon will be displayed in the LCD display on the handset.

Range indication

This appears as an icon in the handset display. The maximum range of the handset is normally 50 meters inside a building and 300 meters outdoors in line of sight. Depending on the make up of the walls in a building the range could be affected.

Mute

The handset microphone can be switched off during a conversation. You can then speak to a third party without being overheard on the telephone.

Receiver Volume

The Receiver volume can be adjusted to one of five different levels.

Redial

The PalmTalk Flip stores the last 20 dialed numbers. You can select any one of these numbers using the navigation key and then the call button.

Keypad Lock

You can activate the keypad lock to prevent unintentional dialing of numbers.

Page

This allows you to locate the handset if mislaid by pressing the Page button on the base causing the handset to emit a tone.

Calling Line Identification

The number of an incoming call or the person's name(if the number is stored in the PalmTalk's memory) will be displayed on the LCD display of the handset. The last 30 incoming numbers are stored in the CLI memory.

Call Waiting

The PalmTalk Flip supports Telkom's WaitingCall service which allows you to put a call on hold and answer a second incoming call and if required to switch from one call to the other.

Ring Melodies

The handset has 12 Polyphonic and 3 Monophonic ring melodies that can be allocated to Identify calls from different sources and numbers. The melodies have 5 volume settings

PIN number protection

The settings on the handset are protected by a PIN number. This can be changed from the factory setting if required

Alarm clock

The PalmTalk Flip has an alarm clock function that can be set as required. When the alarm is set a clock icon will appear in the display. To switch of the alarm when it is sounding any button can be pressed.

LCD contrast

The contrast of the display has 11 settings to choose from.

LCD screen Wallpaper and Style

There is a choice of eight wallpaper images and eight colours to enable you to customise the background of the LCD screen

Game

The game Sudoku is available on the handset.

Calculator

The PalmTalk Flip can be used as a calculator to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc.

Multiple handsets

The telephone is GAP compliant allowing up to 5 other GAP compliant handsets to be registered and to operate as additional handsets with the PalmTalk Big system. Transferring of calls between handsets is possible if they are registered with the base station.
