During the year under review the Group's segment structure was changed to better reflect the Chief operating decision maker's (Executive Committee) assessment of the Group's performance. Due to the Convergence Strategy announced in July 2012, the Executive Committee now manages the business on a combined basis, thereby combining the previously reported Telkom Fixed-Line and Telkom Mobile segments. This reflects the financial information reviewed by the Executive Committee when making decisions about performance and resource allocation and is consistent with the manner in which the Telkom network generates revenue, i.e. on a combined basis. As a result seperate Fixed-Line and Mobile information is no longer provided. No Group's geographical information is provided as the majority of the Group's operations are carried out in South Africa.
The Telkom segment provides fixed-line access, fixed-line usage,data communications services (through Telkom and Cybernest), mobile voice services and handset sales.
