Autolink RT allows you to make direct-dial calls from ship-to-shore, linking directly to the national or international telephone network, without going through a coast station operator. The unit (which can be bought and fitted by any maritime radio dealer) is connected to your vessel's existing Very High Frequency (VHF)/High Frequency (H.F) radio set via the microphone jack plug.

Each Autolink RT model has an LCD display to allow the user to follow the call progress. The Scrambler facility of certain Autolink RT units gives total call privacy by simply pressing a key on the computer keypad - no more worries about anyone listening in to your business or social conversations.

Another feature is PIN code access to Autolink RT. Each unit can have up to 99 different PIN numbers. The PIN code not only controls access to the Autolink RT unit, it is also used for billing purposes, as each crew member can be invoiced separately. Each customer has to register at Telkom Maritime Services prior to usage and will be allocated his/her PIN code.

The service is very cost-effective, billing is per second and you only pay for time used, unlike the manual radiotelephony where the charges are per minute with a minimum charge of three minutes.
