The Telkom Phonecard is a prepaid, fixed value microchip card used on the green Telkom Cardphones. Phonecards offer a convenient and easy way to make calls.
Phonecards enable you to make calls from public payphones without the need for cash (ideal to carry in case of emergencies);
Phonecards can be used to make local, national, international and cellular telephone calls;
A phonecard is a pre-paid card that stores credit on the chip and unused cards and unused credit are not refundable;
When all stored credit has been used during a call, the Phonecard can be replaced with another Phonecard without interrupting the call;
Phonecards have a notch to assist blind users to correctly insert the card into the phone.
Phonecards are available in a variety of denominations:
R20
R50;
R100; and
R200
Advertising On Phonecards
Telkom Public Services also publishes/prints phonecards for corporate and business clients who may wish to advertise their products and services. Rates are available on application.

Telkom sells phonecards in bulk to various distributors/wholesalers who sell the cards to vendors/outlets who in turn sell to the general public. Over 15 thousand retail outlets in towns and cities throughout South Africa sell phonecards. These outlets include:
Telkom direct shops;
All Post Office branches;
Shoprite Checkers;
Selected Pick 'n Pay stores;
Most service stations;
Through vending machines in selected shopping stores;
All major airports;
Corner cafis;
Selected travel agencies, pharmacies, supermarkets and schools.
