A Collect Call is a reverse charge call where the called party, on acceptance of the call, pays the charge. Telkom now offers you the choice of making a Collect Call either with the assistance of an operator or via an automatic service.

Benefits

  • Collect Calls can be made from any telephone, public or private;
  • There is a fixed time limit of nine minutes to all collect calls;
  • The Automatic Collect Call service saves money - it costs less than the operator assisted service, and there is a fixed time limit to calls;
  • A deliberate action is required on the part of the called party to accept an Automatic Collect Call;
  • Automatic Collect Calls are quicker to establish - no lengthy queues;
  • Choice of language means better communication and eliminates the possibility of operator error;
  • Privacy is provided in setting up an Automatic Collect Call;
  • If difficulties are experienced, the call can be diverted to the operator service;
  • To accept an Automatic Collect Call the called party should have a tone dial telephone (DTMF).

Operator assisted Collect Call

  • (Dial 1025) - there is no cost to communicate with the operator; once the call is set up and accepted, then the called party is billed for the call charges.
  • Automatic Collect Call
  • Again there is no cost to the caller. The automatic service is driven by voice prompts; the call is accepted and connected only when the called party enters the necessary acceptance code.

Dial one of the following five numbers depending on your choice of language:

  • English 10131;
  • Afrikaans 10132;
  • Xhosa 10133;
  • Zulu 10134;
  • Sesotho 10135.
