As part of the Art Collection's 2011 employee programme, we hosted two workshops on the rapidly-growing art form of graffiti.
The first workshop took place on 8 October During which employees had an opportunity to make their own graffiti artwork. Two graffiti artists, Rasty and Kyle, facilitated the workshop. Gauteng motorists will have seen their exciting work decorating the roadside in the Johannesburg CBD.
The second workshop was hosted at the Maria Kloppers Children's Home on 15 October. Teenagers at the Home had an opportunity to learn about various techniques to create graffiti art on walls, and contributed to beautifying a wall at the Home. Employee participants from the previous workshop assisted the teenagers, and brought their own children along to share in the experience. Rasty and another artist, Dave, facilitated.
The Home also benefitted from employee donations. Employees heeded the call to come to the Home's aid by donating baby clothes, nappies, toys, food, toiletries and clothing.
