An independent forensic investigation into the cause of the explosion that caused severe damage to the Telkom exchange building in Yeoville, Johannesburg, commenced on Saturday, 30 January 2010.

An underground gas leakage in the Yeoville, Johannesburg, area was responsible for this morning's explosion which damaged Telkom's exchange as well as adjacent buildings.

A municipal transformer at Telkom's exchange in Yeoville, Johannesburg, exploded earlier this morning. Two injuries can be confirmed at this time.
