Telkom rolls out LTE-Advanced to five more suburbs

Following a successful launch in Parkview, Johannesburg, Telkom’s new super-fast LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network is now live in five more suburbs. These are: Illovo and Melrose in Gauteng, Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town, and Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal. These suburbs now have access to peak internet connectivity, with speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Residents are now able to join Telkom’s Futurehood – a place where the possibilities of high speed broadband meet the specific requirements of people, homes and businesses across South Africa.

“Telkom is at the forefront of providing customers with high-speed technology that allows them to connect with friends and family. With our new LTE-A service, customers are able to use the service wherever there is a signal and coverage,” said Attila Vitai, MD for Consumer and Mobile at Telkom.

LTE-A is a wireless plug-and-play solution that can be used anywhere where signal and coverage allows. Being a wireless solution, LTE-A does not require a wire-connection that goes into your home and it can turn your home into a fully connected Wi-Fi hotspot allowing for up to 32 devices to be connected simultaneously.

Telkom’s LTE-A offer is comparable to speeds available over a fibre network and offers a compelling alternative to fixed line solutions for high speed connectivity.

Telkom is offering 100GB of LTE-A data at peak speeds of up to 150 Mbps which enables customers to download a 10GB HD movie in less than eight minutes or download a 60MB music album within nine seconds. The promotional offer is available for R1399.00 per month over a 36 month contract.
