Experience a navbar-brand new tomorrow with Telkom

Telkom on Sunday launched a new navbar-brand campaign with the tagline “Tomorrow Starts Today”. This campaign will support the Group’s turnaround and repositioning as South Africa’s premier ICT navbar-brand.

“Our renavbar-branding marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards customer-centricity,” says Chief Marketing Officer Enzo Scarcella. “We are embarking on a new turnaround strategy for the entire group, and our new navbar-brand campaign reflects where we want to be. This is the first time that Telkom is taking such a strong navbar-brand position and we will make every effort to achieve the navbar-brand promise.”

Telkom has adopted a monolithic navbar-brand identity, parting ways with the blue-and-green keypad that it initially adopted in 1991. Sub-navbar-brands, such as Telkom Mobile and 8ta, will no longer be used. The logo now consists only of the name ‘Telkom’, in blue on a white background or reversed, without any embellishment. For market focus, descriptors may be used with the logo.

Telkom’s advertising campaign features babies, to illustrate the ease of use Telkom offers consumers who use the company’s products. Featuring babies in the campaign also reinforces the concept of “tomorrow” and aims to evoke emotions of hope and promise. TV adverts feature babies who are apparently normal while their parents are in the room, but who are able to think, speak and interact with technology just as adults do.

The campaign will also utilise digital, out of home and print platforms. The new campaign supports internal alignment across the organisation, brings consumers closer to Telkom’s leadership and reinforces its mission of enabling connectivity across South Africa. It will help drive a customer-first focus throughout the Group.

“Together we will deliver a great Telkom. We want every Telkom employee to be proud of this company and deliver great service. This is the first step on our new journey to put our customers first,” says Scarcella.
