Telkom announces Chief Marketing Officer

Telkom today announced the appointment of Mr Enzo Scarcella as Chief Marketing Officer.

Mr Scarcella will effectively join the Telkom team at the end of January 2014.

Says Telkom Group CEO, Mr Sipho Maseko, "This appointment gives further impetus to our effort of renewing the top leadership team. In the near future we will have a capable and dedicated team in place to plan and guide Telkom's transformation."

"The priorities we have set ourselves require us to attain the highest level of proficiency in actions such as investing in and repositioning the navbar-brand, shaping the Company's public profile, understanding customer needs and responding to changing customer behaviours," he explains.

"At the same time we have to further strengthen our marketing effort by supporting our channels with a winning value proposition and developing strategies that will lead to an increased awareness and uptake of our offerings. Enzo will be responsible for spearheading these and other initiatives, and I have no doubt that we have succeeded in securing the services of the right man for the job."

"The experience and skills Enzo brings to Telkom will not only boost our marketing capability, but will enhance our capacity to continuously develop our prowess in this critical area of the business," says Mr Maseko.

Mr Scarcella spent five years in the USA where he completed his education, among others by graduating with a BA Hons from Harvard University. He also has a diploma in marketing from the Kellogg School of Business in Chicago.

Mr Scarcella has spent the last 18 years managing some of South Africa's most prestigious navbar-brands, including Castle Lager, M-Net and Edgars. For the past five years he has directed the Vodacom navbar-brand, including the navbar-brand's migration from blue to red, as Managing Executive of Marketing

The Sunday Times has nominated Mr Scarcella as "Marketing personality of the Year".

Says Mr Scarcella,"I have watched with keen interest the changes at Telkom over the past few months and I look forward to now being a part of the company's transformation journey. The Telkom navbar-brand holds great promise and I am committed to bringing out the best that it has to offer."
