Telkom Mobile unveils premium voice products

Telkom Mobile’s new generation of premium contracts are aimed at delivering on the demands of voice-centric customers.

The Telkom Mobile Smart and SmartSaver post-paid voice plans give customers access to unlimited calls to Telkom Mobile and 8ta numbers and, on some plans, unlimited access to free Wi-Fi at Telkom Mobile hotspots around the country.

Customers will also receive an allocation of free voice minutes, free megabytes of data and free SMS for use to any network, depending on the plan they choose. Some plans also include unlimited calls to one Telkom landline.

Mr Attila Vitai, Managing Director of Telkom Mobile says, "The Smart range is indicative of an early fulfilment of our commitment to meet the quality and service demands of the higher end mobile consumer."

"We have categorised the Telkom Mobile plans to make it easier for customers to choose one that best suits their usage patterns. We know that some people use a lot of voice, some use a combination of voice and data, and others lots of data. So we have structured our plans that way," he adds.

Mr Vitai also pointed to the flexibility that the new plans offer consumers. "Many post-paid customers want a particular level of control over their spending. We provide this with the SmartSaver plans where customers can cap their usage and if they need more airtime or data they can buy a top up bundle."

This new range of plans follows on the recent launch of Telkom Mobile’s Unlimited Voice contract which is the first of its kind in South Africa. It is unique in offering unlimited calls, at any time, to any national mobile and national fixed network. It has already proved popular among subscribers who make a lot of calls but want certainty about the amount they will pay without the need to constantly consider particular contract provisions.

Mr Vitai says consumers can look forward to more products from Telkom Mobile that simplify the decision making process of purchasing mobile services.

  • mobile communication services, including voice services, data services and handset sales through our mobile navbar-brand called Telkom Mobile;
  •  information and communication services including cloud services, infrastructure services, workspace services, global service integration management and hardware and network equipment sales locally, in seven African countries, the UK and Dubai through Business Connexion Group; and
  • other services including directory services, through Trudon (Pty) Ltd, wireless data services, through Swiftnet (Pty) Ltd.
