Industrial action delays statement delivery

Telkom has been made aware that industrial action at the South African Post Office is currently affecting postal services and the delivery of mail.

The Company would like to alert customers who receive Telkom account statements via the Post Office that a delay in the delivery of statements is possible.

Customers are advised to contact Telkom to enquire on their outstanding balances and payment amounts due in the event of delayed or non-delivery of postal services to their addresses during this time.

The easiest method for getting hold of account balances is for customers to use Telkom’s balance enquiry SMS system.

Customers need simply send a text message (SMS) of their 10-digit Telkom landline telephone number, followed by a space and the account holders ID number from a mobile phone to 0123210210. A return SMS containing the current balance, amount due, the due date of payment, last recorded payment and date of last payment received will then be sent to the mobile phone.

Customers can also view their account balance on the Telkom App for iPad and Android devices. The Telkom App is available for free download from the Apple App store and an Android version of the app can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

Telkom thanks its customers for assisting in this regard.

  • Customer sends an SMS to 0123210210 putting in the 10-digit Telkom landline telephone number, followed by a space and the ID number.
  • SMS comes back with the current balance, amount due, the due date for payment, last recorded payment and date last payment
  • Error message/Invalid ID

  • NB: Ensure the telephone number and ID number is correct/accurate.
  • SMS pricing

Standard SMS charges apply – network dependent. SMS received from Telkom is free.
