Head of Telkom Business Mobile appointed

Telkom today announced the appointment of industry veteran, Mr Deon Liebenberg, as Head of Telkom Business Mobile, effective today.

Mr Liebenberg has a wealth of experience in the ICT sales arena. He began his early sales career at Telkom some 18 years ago as a Corporate Account Manager.

He has subsequently headed the Sales division at Vodacom and has, fulfilled the role of country sales director at Motorola and Research in Motion, where he is widely credited with revitalizing Blackberry's market position in South Africa. Mr Liebenberg joins Telkom from Samsung Electronics, where he was the Managing Director.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of the Free State, an Honours degree in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch. This equips him adequately to lead the Business Mobile Sales team.

In his capacity as the Head of the Telkom Business Mobile, Mr Liebenberg will be responsible for driving strategy and execution for all mobile activities in Telkom Business. He will play a vital role in positioning Telkom as the leading provider of converged communication solutions in South Africa.

Telkom Business launched its mobile services in September 2011, marking another significant step on the company's ongoing journey toward delivering fixed mobile convergence.

More recently Telkom Business unveiled its first converged bundled solutions for business customers, to bring together the best fixed and mobile solutions, on a single bill, from a single provider.

  • Data Centre Operations includes e-commerce, application service provider, hosting, data storage, e-mail and security services;
  • W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), a 3G next generation network, including fixed voice services, data services and nomadic voice services;
  • mobile communication services, including voice services, data services and handset sales through our mobile navbar-brand called Telkom Mobile;
  •  information and communication services including cloud services, infrastructure services, workspace services, global service integration management and hardware and network equipment sales locally, in seven African countries, the UK and Dubai through Business Connexion Group; and
  • other services including directory services, through Trudon (Pty) Ltd, wireless data services, through Swiftnet (Pty) Ltd.
